Bullshit

Why is it that the government and or IRS always have to ruin a classy story? This is Derek Jeter and the man that caught his 3000th hit, which was a home run by the way.  The man, ( I won't say his name) willingly gave the ball back and all he wanted in return was to meet Derek. Sure he could of kept the ball and probably got a fortune for it, but as he said it was not in his nature to do that.
Seriously I am sure that most would of kept that ball and sold it to the highest bidder. Some even say that is the. "right" thing to do. So now for doing a good deed and or something he felt in his heart was good he will more than likely have to pay the taxes on the items that were given to him. In case you did not he received bats, jerseys and more that were signed by Derek. He also received luxury box seat tickets to the remainder of the Yankee's home games including the playoffs, if they go.
So in my eyes those are gifts and really should not even be taxed. I mean come on doesn't the IRS tax us enough throughout the year already?
